The Wines of Castelvecchi — Borgo Castelvecchi

Chianti Classico · Organic

The wines of
Castelvecchi

Produced at the heart of the oldest and most prestigious Chianti zone, between Gaiole, Radda and Castellina — from a land that has been making wine for over a thousand years.

Tuscan red wines,
olive oil and grappa from the estate

Fattoria Castelvecchi has been producing wines, extra virgin olive oil and grappa on its estate of approximately 300 hectares at the heart of the Chianti for centuries. A tradition officially recognised as far back as 26 December 1930, when the de Vecchi family joined the newly founded Consorzio di produttori del Vino Chianti — today the Chianti Classico Consortium.

The wines offered during tastings at Castelvecchi come from a small organic estate in the Chianti Classico, selected exclusively for the guests of the borgo: private labels, not available in shops, crafted to accompany the experience of this very special place.

The hills of the Chianti Classico

Between Florence
and Siena, the heart
of the Chianti

The Chianti Classico is the historic zone par excellence: the communes of Gaiole, Radda and Castellina, on geologically homogeneous soil south of the Apennines, between the latitudes of Florence and Siena.

It is from this land that Chianti wine draws its characteristic colour and fragrance. Castelvecchi sits right at its heart — in Radda in Chianti — surrounded by three hundred hectares of vineyards and woodland, with views and privacy that few places in the world can offer.

At the foot of the Chianti hills, the landscape changes colour with every season, surprising the eye anew each time: the deep green of summer, the gold and red of autumn during harvest, the grey mist-wrapped stillness of winter.

Grappa

Distilled from the pomace of the estate’s Tuscan red wines. A characterful grappa, rooted in the territory, that brings every tasting to a worthy close. Available for direct purchase in the cellar.
